Javier Tebas, President of La Liga, announced plans to address Real Madrid TV's (RMTV) persistent criticism of referees, which has created a highly tense atmosphere for officials.

The production of videos targeting every referee officiating a Real Madrid match has become a regular practice for RMTV, sparking considerable controversy this season.

Tebas informed Mundo Deportivo that the broadcasting rights for La Liga are publicly awarded, and they are currently investigating the issue.

“The channel is a public concession. I am sure that it was granted assuming that they would respect the values of sport. The conditions of the rights must be reviewed. La Liga is beginning to take action against the videos," Tebas said.

“Can you imagine a video of the referees created by Barca and the rest of the clubs following suit? We would destroy football. It is evident that we cannot continue down this road.

“Nobody sticks their neck out about the videos because of what Real Madrid are in this country. They command respect. The referees have enough with the Negreira case. I have been president for ten years and having Florentino in front of you every day, it is not comfortable.”

Refereeing performances have been a dominant topic in recent months, especially with the release of audio from Video Assistant Referee (VAR) interventions.

The frustration with referees is increasingly widespread, extending beyond perceived biases involving the top two teams. Real Madrid TV's actions have faced condemnation from various quarters.

Previously, the Competition Committee, overseen by the RFEF, refrained from intervening as Real Madrid TV operates as a private entity beyond the federation’s authority.

Remember, Real Madrid are currently top of the league with 58 points from 23 matches, they are followed closely by in-form Girona, who are just two points behind them with the equal number of matches.

The two sides are set to collide in a potential title decider on February 10 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
